[ It's been a while in the making, but there Dean is and there's Cas and, quite frankly, there was a whole heck of a lot of awkward suddenly filling up the room because what do you do when you drop in unannounced, uninvited and with the duffel bag in hand, huh?
It's almost like they're domesticated, except Dean's begging the favor rather than the other way around. Even if it was for Cas' own good.
... There was something inherently wrong in this. ]
So, uh... nice place you've got.
[ wherever Cas' hide-away was. The tunnels, wasn't it? ]
[ He's made it a habit not to stay down there for long periods of time. Especially now, given the circumstances, so it's a bit of luck that Dean actually catches him there, and he pauses, tilting his head to look him over.
The same as always--with the addition of that bag. ]
Do you need something? [ Even if it's always nice to see Dean, their relationship still isn't the best it could be. He rests his hands on his hips and waits expectantly. ]
[ Dean tossed the bag on a random pile and dusted his hands, still doing the 360 around the room and finding it a bit lacking, not that it's a surprise. All of Haven was kind of lacking. That's half the reason he was here. The other half, well...
This isn't the sort of behavior he would have expected at this given point in time, and his eyes fall to the duffel before finding their way to Dean again. Castiel wishes to ask so many questions, and yet, he cannot find the words to do so. His hands fall to his sides. ]
No, sorry. [ Except he's not. Not really. It's just something to say when there's nothing else to be said. ] Something else, maybe?
[ action ] AT LEAST HE DIDN'T GO ALL BEVIS AND BUTTHEAD ON YOU
[ Dean rolls his eyes and then points to the makeshift bed in the corner (or not) of the room because honestly, he was expecting this. Of course, Cas doesn't need to know he's got a day or two worth of supplies in the duffel bag. Enough at least to keep Dean fairly well off. Cas should've done the foraging ahead of time. ]
Is that the only place you got to sit? I'd much rather sit there then on a bunch of bones.
[ He only gives him a shake of his head, not sure why he'd refuse to sit. It's lack of use is apparent if he'd happen to really look at it, and rather than explain, Castiel simply slips his hands into the pockets of his pants, shoulders bowed forward a little. ]
I didn't realize you were planning to stay. [ A pause. ] ... are you?
[ action ] hey, that was some quality tv right there. (nottalking)
[ there's another pause as Dean's next words are caught somewhere between a fuck and that darn catnow that really dates me! ]
Oh, well. I might have been.
[ another awkward pause before Dean cleared his throat. ]
Honestly, I was thinking we could use the down time. You know. Man bonding, or whatever the kids call it nowaday. Personally, I still think getting drunk at the nearest bar would be the ideal but I'm afraid we're pretty much out of bars and we are definitely out of booze.
[ and, you know, after Anna and Gabe kicked the bucket, Dean's been thinking maybe Cas needed a shoulder to cry on. After all, they hadn't exactly been on the best of terms. And after his own fiascoes, Dean ain't exactly feeling close to the group either. ]
