[ Just the effects of having gone too long without food and water before feeding his vessel with the sustenance it needed, nourish it with whatever it needed and then... then he starts to be on the mend, just enough to realize the damage done to it. ]
I thought perhaps you had some of that alcohol left.
[ And if you look outside, you'll come face to face with a disheveled version of yourself -- oh, wait. It'll be like looking in the damn mirror, only perhaps with a borrowed hoodie that he practically swims in. ]
[ Which is what he does, frown rather evident on his face as he takes in his appearance. There's a moment, two, and Castiel sighs, reaching out to grip him by that hoodie and jerk him into the outer part of the room. From there, he practically drags him along until they're shut behind another door. Alone. ]
You look - [ A pause, searching for the word. It's a quiet statement. ] - human.
[ Castiel presses fingers against his temple as he approaches the open door. He lacks his usual driven gait, seems to curl into himself like a man suffering from stomach cramps and he doesn't even have the strength to resist being pulled inside. He just nearly trips over his feet on the way in and has to put a hand on Castiel's shoulder to steady himself when he's finally inside his apartment.
He winces through the admission, because as much as he doesn't want to admit it, it's true. ]
[ Effectively? Perhaps too much. It seems as if Castiel hasn't taken well to this, and despite how he wishes to simply turn him away, never see his face again, he can sympathize. He understands this struggle, the pain and fear--even when he doesn't voice them.
Gently, he rests his hands atop the one on his shoulder. Asking where his grace had gone seems a bit redundant. ]
What do you want me to do? [ It's not as if he could heal him. He's not letting him have the booze either. ]
[ action ] i don't even know what's happening anymore!!
It's a little surprising, and how slowly he adjusts is rather telling of how their relationship has played out thus far. Months of this, and Castiel still hasn't gotten used to this Dean. He's supposed to like him, right? ]
Why would you want to do something like that? [ The words after it goes unspoken: with me. He curls his hands into fists in his pockets. ] I confess I... don't see the point anymore.
[ It's acceptance anyway, and if he's here, away from them, he can protect them on his own terms rather than risk their safety trying to fit in. ]
[ action ] good. that justmeans you're in character!
[ and that is what has Dean so frustrated. It's been months and Dean can barely get Cas to speak three words to him other than once in a while. They used to be close and at one time, he'd seen Cas walk off into his death for a man that didn't deserve that kind of loyalty anymore.
And maybe he was trying to make up for that. ]
You don't see the point? Well, maybe the point is as simple as us getting to know each other again. You didn't exactly seem to mind too much when I stopped in for a visit five years from now. What changed?
[ other than the fact that he wasn't that other douchebag of a Dean that is. but hey, maybe he was starting to become that one too. ]
