[ They're laying in bed, pressed together.
Castiel can't remember if it's his or hers, but it's not as if it really matters now, leaning closer and leaving his cheek pressed to her shoulder. The weather outside is as unpredictable as it always is, wind howling and the slap of ice against the window clear enough in it's explanation: it's begun to snow. Still, they're warm, and he sighs, turning a little more so that his leg nudges hers and slips between her knees as if they've always done this. There's no need to move beyond that, not now, and with the blanket draped over them, the heat is substantial despite how thin it is. His fingers stroke lazily at a hip, and he hums, the few notes of a song he briefly thinks might have been one of Dean's favorites. Classic rock that dies into the syllables of her name on the tip of his tongue. ]
Do you know what I would like to do right now?
[ A hint of a smile on his face, and he leans onto his side, thumb tracing her jaw as he tips her head so their eyes meet. The question is rhetorical, but it's not as if he cares about that, hardly giving her time to answer as he kisses her softly on the mouth. ]

Even better that it was Cas who wanted to be beside her, to hold her, to keep her close. Chests pressed together, she can feel his heartbeat against her own, strong and rhythmic. Her arms are around him, at his waist, and her hand is splayed against his back, her fingers resting gently against him. She sighs as he moves, and she shifts, in turn, to accommodate him. We fit, is what her idle and odd brain says in the haze of contentment, and she closes her eyes as she rests her cheek against his head. It's...nice to be wanted and needed, she realizes, and knows this is why she never wants it to end.
Cas moves and she tilts her head, eyes half-lidded as if she wants to sleep, and she turns her head with his urging to meet his kiss. Evelynn smiles halfway through it, obvious, making the press of their lips a little awkward until she adjusts, turning her head once more. She hums softly, just briefly, against his mouth, and moves her body to coax him over her just a bit, so she can feel his weight and the press of his hands.]

They have been through too much together to not think of it, the sacrifices they have made and what he still does to keep her safe. Castiel knows they are both strong, that Evelyn doesn't need him to protect her as much as he'd thought once, but it's instinct to keep her just that much closer, to use his words and hands and body to wrap her in and never let her go. Attachment is dangerous in a world determined to rip them apart piece by piece, but this is another addiction he can't quite bring himself to give up. It's the knowledge that they're so alike and still so vastly different that keeps him coming back to this. To her.
Castiel falls into the kiss with ease of practice, tongue dragging the edge of her bottom lip before he licks inside to kiss her carefully, deeply. The warmth that blossoms from it steals his breath, and he's chuckling against her mouth when she moves to let him rest against her in a way that's much better than snuggling. Like this, he can feel every curve, and likewise, she's aware of just how much his body does fit with hers. The kisses trail down her neck and up again to the sweet spot by her ear. She reminds him that it's okay to want, to need, and his fingers slip into her hair, cradling the shape of her skull and lightly stroking her scalp as they kiss. His nose nudges at her jaw. ]
I could do this forever. [ And what's odd is that he means it. He really could. ]

It's embarrassing how quickly he can coax these sort of feelings out of her when he says things like that. I could do this forever. Cynical, she huffs out a short and belabored laugh, stirred with how he touches her, how his fingers feel in her hair as they kiss and part and kiss again. She longs for his lips and when they're close, she kisses him back with an insistent fervor that is still tender, still gentle, a hand cradling his cheek and jaw as he lingers.
Evelynn sighs against his cheek.] Don't say things like that.
[Especially when he might not follow through on that. But then she nudges him with her nose right back, smiles, and kisses him again.] I'm going to want to make you follow through on that.
